An invitation to friends and family

Dear Friends and Family,

Here's a little invitation with some visit options we'd like to offer to friends and family that would be interested in coming up to stay at our place for a little visit this season.

The reason for that is the following:
  1. We live on a recreational property where camping is welcome
  2. We love to host people but this property and our lifestyle is workbound, which we love but it means it’s quite hard for us to break away from the work and host visitors as we would like too
  3. We don’t want to rule out the possibility of hosting visitors just because of point #2
  4. To form clarity and organization around everyone’s visit here :)

Therefore, we propose the following:

Option A: Total self-contained visit
Feel free to ‘wild camp.’  You can pitch your tent and bring all your own gear: tent, kitchen/cooking equipment etc.  You will essentially be holidaying here on your own and can come and join us in our communal areas in the evenings.

Option B:  Work-exchange visit
Bring your tent but we offer you three meals a day in exchange for 6 hours of labour and the opportunity to experience and learn some off-grid homesteading skills.  Check http://www.landonrockproject.com/connect.html for more details.

Our daily flow is:
8-9am: Breakfast
9am-12noon: Morning Work
12noon-1pm: Lunch
1pm-4pm: Afternoon Work
4pm-6pm: Free time (possibly some meal time prep)
6pm-onwards: Dinner, dishes, freetime, bonfire etc.

Option C: Your own holiday with Communal meals
Bring your own tent but don’t bring kitchen gear.

You’ll be welcome to join us for communal meals throughout your whole visit whilst enjoying your own free-time.

To help out with food costs, we welcome potluck contributions to meals or monetary contributions as you feel comfortable.  Some fun communal meal prep beforehand is also joyfully received and of course post-meal washing up etc.   You can refer to my general meal plan that I use as a loose guide, so you can anticipate what food to expect during your stay.  Also for potluck inspirations if you feel like that could help :)

You will be welcome to hang around and enjoy the area at your leisure.  We may or may not be able to accompany you directly during your entire time here due to our own tasks and duties but there will be plenty of time to mingle around food prep times, meals and bonfire evenings of course.

Option D: Combination of free time, work time and communal meals
If you want a bit of work AND play/rest AND Community meals then this is your option. Check out the Daily Flow schedule and let us know in advance which time block(s) you would be able to contribute some working time.  This helps Andres so he can plan 'many hands' tasks accordingly.

No need for any food or monetary contributions if you're supplying us with help during your stay here!

Important notes for Options B, C and D:
We have a great outdoor kitchen that I use everyday to feed family, visitors and large groups.  Though it is fully equipped, refrigeration and other details need to be considered in advance.  Therefore it is useful to know who’s coming, how many people and for how long so we can plan accordingly.

Hope that all makes sense!  Any questions then please let me know.  In regards to the best times to visit - we are here most weekends in the season (April - October).  As well as most long weekends too.  If you would like to come then please let me know and we can confirm a date together.

10 days ago we celebrated our first one full complete year on the land anniversary.  Over the last 8 years, we've been moving back and forth to our property.  Between setting ourselves up to be there through all seasons and having two children in the meantime, it's been a hectic experience.  But it seems hard work really does pay off and we are so grateful for that.  I don't write here much because we are just so busy LIVING!  And it's been so beautiful, my heart is full.  I enjoy writing and I plan to do more, I'm waiting for the right time.  So for now, if you'd like to know more about what we're doing then I invite you check our Instagram page and Facebook where it's slightly easier to post more often.  @landonrockproject

Or better!  Come visit us!  Check the Connect page for more details.  Hopefully see you soon!
